St. John’s Wort oil is one of the best homemade remedies to keep in your herbal first aid kit.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Fresh St. Johns Wort
Quantities depend on the amount you wish to make.
Separate the flowers, buds and leaves from the batch and put them in a jar. The vase should be about 3/4 full. Pour extra virgin olive oil in the jar until it covers the flowers. Seal the jar and leave it for 20-30 days in the sun. Every day give a quick shake to the jar. After a month, the oil will have turned red. If desired, 2 capsules of Vitamin E can be added to the mix.
Strain the oil and put it back in the jar. Store in a shady dark spot.
St. Johns Wort Oil can be used to relieve nerve-related pain. Can also be rubbed on bumps, strains, sore backs, sore joints, sunburns and swollen glands. Massage a small amount of oil into the affected area several times per day.
